Sales Of GTA: Chinatown Revealed
The News: The sales numbers are in for Sega’s hyper-violent MadWorld and Take-Two’s highly praised Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and the news isn’t encouraging. The NPD Group told Gamasutra MadWorld sold 66,000 copies, while multiple outlets have learned Chinatown Wars moved 89,000 units. Our Take: Before the official numbers were released, Sega had told Venture Beat “the first set of [sales] data for MadWorld is very encouraging” and a Take-Two representative reportedly told Silicon Valley Insider “they remain confident in the long-term success” of Chinatown Wars. That’s what’s really important, too. Sales may not have been “blockbuster” this month, but if these games keep selling past March, this month isn’t the end of the world.
